Who are we?

The Burbank Witch, LLC is a woman and queer owned/operated entity. Their venue space, “The Witch’s Cottage”, pulls from the magical and ethereal world of paganism and witchcraft.

This cafe/bakery/bar/restaurant focuses on herbalism and the intention that goes into their products. Specializing in tea and baked goods, customers will be able to sit and enjoy themselves in a maximalist design of a witch’s cottage in the woods to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The space will double as community outreach with classes and workshops that help people find their inner magic and embrace their homes and nature in new and conscientious ways.

To uphold the values of community, inclusivity, accessibility and accountability, The Witch’s Cottage will be dedicated to providing certain days of the month that house free space for groups who do not have the means to pay for a rental space, subject to application and approval. The Witch’s Cottage is a “Third Place”.

Some symbolism throughout include:

The Moon: The symbol of power, change, and manifestation!
The Cauldron: The symbol of creation and the center of magical culmination
The Florals: Symbols of growth, beauty, and life.
The Dancing Fire Figure: Fire is power and life, giving form to someone who thrives in the power of the energy around them. Here, the androgyny was purposeful, and the grace in their form is stunning. There is even a small hidden heart amongst their flames.
The Stars: Give us direction in a world that can be overwhelming

Why "THE WITCH'S COTTAGE" and not "THE WITCHES COTTAGE"?

There is a difference between "Witches" and "Witch's". One denoting that it is a place for many, a cottage that has a lot of witches.

The other, is more personal. It means YOU belong here. It is also YOURS.

Having a space to call home- whether it is for working on the computer during the day, sitting and enjoying a magical dinner and drinks, going on an adventure with friends, or performing underneath the forest that grows in our theater, it's yours!

That is why it is "Witch's" and not "Witches".

Our Mission is to celebrate human connection and create a space for people to find joy, meaning, and respite, with a cup of tea, baking, and adding magic to the mundane.

What is a “Third Place”?
The Reason We Are Important

A “Third Place” is a term that was coined by sociologist Ray Oldenburg in the 1980’s.

It is the type of location that has been deemed “a space for informal, free social interaction, and is essential to democracy”. If the “First Place” is home, and the “Second Place” is work, then the world needs more “Third Places” that are neither.

What is The Witch’s Cottage?

“The Witch’s Cottage” is a maximalist design cafe/bar/restaurant/community event/performance venue that embraces the essence of a Witch’s Cottage in the woods. Here, the baking and tea recipes embrace the herbalist intentions of what an individual may need on any given day- whether that may be a state of calm, focus, creativity, or manifestation.

While coffee and espresso will be sold, it is truly all about the tea. The bakery and kitchen foods also hold this desire of deep intention and curated care. We don’t only focus on the food being delicious, but also magically and intuitively crafted.

The bar holds the potions that guests may find themselves bartering for hopes and dreams, therein. Like all of the food and tea, these cocktails also come with a magical flair.

The community outreach and performance venue seeks to share culture and art with the community on a brilliant level. Not only will the people who visit be able to take masterclasses that better the planet, the soul, and/or their lives, but they will be able to join various groups and collectives who have like minded love and care in their craft. The events and performances will create a magical escape to the hustle and bustle of the city outside.

The purpose of this space is to embrace the magic in the mundane through community and human connection. We are stronger together.

Who is The Burbank Witch (LLC)?

Witch /wɪtʃ/ (noun): A person who lives in rhythm with nature’s cycles, uses their intuition to make decisions, and uses magic to heal and balance their community.

A Witch is a person who has dedicated their life to learning about the connections between things. They study the different cycles of nature and their place in them. They learn how to use the energies within themselves and the world to make changes. And most of all, they strive to make the world a better place for themselves and other people.
